Greetings Overlake Squadron Cadets and Seniors,

COLOR GUARD;

Our Squadron Color Guard continues to practice in preparation for the Wing Competition to be held at Camp Murray on 26 -27 FEB.  If you want to learn more about participating with Color Guard activities throughout the year contact C/Capt Mason.

FACEBOOK;

We have a new Squadron Facebook Page which we hope will be a valuable recruiting and information tool.  As with all social media advertising, contact with our target audience is important.

If you are a Facebook user, consider becoming a 'Fan', and then recommend the page to your friends who you think might be interested in learning about CAP.

We will attract the attention of more potential new members and supporters as our 'Fan' base grows.

It would be great to have more photos of Cadets enjoying CAP activities.  If you want to contribute photos, please send them to myself or C/Capt Mason for approval.

SQUADRON T-SHIRT;

We are in the process of designing a Squadron T-Shirt, similar to those issued at Wing Encampments.  I am hoping to organize a small group of members who want to work on the design.  Please contact me if you want to contribute your ideas.

KLONDIKE;

Through our association with the Scouts, we have been invited to attend their winter encampment (in the snow)(in the mountains) on the Presidents Day weekend.  We would need a Senior Member to volunteer as well.  This could be a great recruiting event as there will be about 100 Scouts there.  Again, let me know if you are interested.

SPRING CONFERENCE;

The WA Wing Spring Conference will take place in Wenatchee, 09-11 APR.  There will be classes and activities for both Cadets and Seniors.  We will take our van for the weekend so there will be transportation available if you plan to attend.

NEW WA WING COMMANDER;

Congratulations to Lt Col David Lehman for being selected as the next Wing Commander.  A formal Change of Command ceremony will take place at the Spring Conference.  Our thanks go to Col Maxwell for his years of service to the members of WA Wing.

CAP REQUIRED TRAINING;

Please take the time to complete OPSEC, Equal Opportunity, and ORM Basic training now so that your promotions will not be delayed in the future.  The training is available on the web at www.capmembers.com   under CAP University and CAP Safety.

Here are our completion totals to date:        OPSEC 93%            EO 59%            ORM Basic 57%
